One Year of the UNCRC in Scots Law!

Today marks one year since the incorporation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) into Scots law – a major step forward for children’s rights in Scotland.

At Shared Parenting Scotland, we celebrate this milestone as a vital foundation for a fairer, more child-focused family justice system.

Incorporating the UNCRC means children’s rights – including their right to be heard and to maintain relationships with both parents are legal obligations.

There is work to be done in practice to realise the ambition of the legislation. We stand ready to support this aim – putting the best interests of the child at the heart of everything we do – and encouraging others to do the same.
