How best to support children and parents through family conflict

Shared Parenting Scotland has invited AFCC president Dr Matthew Sullivan to speak about his experience of working with children and parents in high conflict separations.  He is giving a talk on Thursday 20th February in Edinburgh – further details and bookings here.

Dr Sullivan is a licensed psychologist in private practice in California and is the founder of the Californian Coparenting Clinic.  He will talk about how child-centred interventions, co-parenting and parenting coordination can all play a part in dealing with the breakdown of ties between children and their parents.

We hope that Dr Sullivan’s experience can make a useful contribution to the discussion of what could be established alongside our court system to help children and parents survive family breakdown.   AFCC is the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts – the premier interdisciplinary and international association of professionals dedicated to the resolution of family conflict.  For nearly half a century, AFCC and its members have served as catalysts for generating major reforms.  Dispute resolution processes such as child custody mediation, parenting coordination and divorce education are just a few of the innovative ideas developed by AFCC members.
