Orkney MSP, Liam McArthur (Lib Dem), asked Justice Secretary, Humza Yousaf, to bear in mind the particular logistical issues for island communities in negotiating arrangements for contact with their children which may involve travel by ferry.
Mr Yousaf agreed that this is a “hugely important matter” and would reflect on the issue in discussions with his colleagues.
Liam McArthur raised the issue during last week’s online session of the Scottish Parliament Justice Committee. He asked the Justice Secretary to include the issue in his future discussions with the Lord President of the Court of Session.
