In recent months, Shared Parenting Scotland has seen an increase in partner referrals, alongside a noticeable uptick in referrals from the veterans community.
Veterans are reaching out to us directly for support through separation, whether that’s help with maintaining contact with their children, regaining relationships after periods of disruption, or navigating the profound loss of contact that can be an all-too-common feature within the community.
This growing connection and integration as a trusted partner working alongside the forces community doesn’t happen by chance. It reflects a concerted and considered approach across our staff team, and in particular the work of our Veterans Manager, former Royal Marine, Mark Downie, pictured today at a drop-in service at Lothians Veterans Centre – one of many outreach activities taking place.
This engagement has led to more veterans taking up free places on our Love, Loss and Living and New Ways for Families training, ably coordinated and delivered by our Training Manager, David Maclean.
Our thanks go to our partners, sponsors and funders for making it possible to provide this bespoke, responsive support to the veterans community and their families.
Together, we’re building something grounded in trust, collaboration and shared purpose.
