Bill Eddy and Megan Hunter from the High Conflict Institute in San Diego, USA launched the New Ways For Families® training for separated parents in 2009. Since then many thousands of separated parents in the USA, Canada and Australia have used the training and coaching programme to learn how to put their children first, communicate better and make decisions together without having to go to court.
New Ways For Families® is now available in Scotland following a pilot conducted by Shared Parenting Scotland.
These events in Glasgow and Edinburgh are an opportunity for lawyers and other professionals supporting parents to hear from Bill and Megan about how the programme focuses on four key skills: managed emotions, flexible thinking, moderate behaviours and checking yourself rather than blaming others. They will also describe the vital role of the coaches who help parents to practice the skills learnt in the online training modules. Shared Parenting Scotland will be recruiting more Scottish coaches as the programme rolls out.
